brigatasinfonica - Instrumental ensamble with variable lineup. ANTONIO CATALFAMO - SAXES and FLUTE, DANIELE LO RE - GUITARS, ALESSANDRO VICARD - CONTRABAS, Brigata Sinfonica performed several times in trio and trio + guests (drums, alto/baritone sax, traditional instruments...). An imaginary musical journey from East to West goes through the popular traditions of the Arabic world, of Balcans, nothern Africa, Europe and America. The repertory includes traditional pieces and quotations from the European symphonic repertory, where the strict structure of the past musical models strives for a match, maybe unscrupolous, with the music of "the people", by reinterpretaion and improvisation, with the ambition to bring closer distant styles and artistic experiences. The ensamble "Brigata Sinfonica" was born, occasionally, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Roman Treaties, in order to make people aware about the theme: "the way to the human rights in the European Community", organized by the Politic Science Faculty of Catania. "Brigata Sinfonica" is a metaphor of a possible integration between different and distant ethnic groups, trying to interpreter the popular music and the contemporary world at the same time.
